Tamil Nadu Unveils Ambitious Aerospace and Defence Industrial Policy

In November 2022, Tamil Nadu unveiled its Aerospace and Defence Industrial Policy, setting an ambitious target to attract ₹75,000 crore in investments and generate over 1 lakh jobs in the sector over the next decade. The policy aims to position the state as a preferred destination for aerospace and defence manufacturing by fostering a robust, world-class ecosystem.

To support this vision, the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) has developed a 250-acre Aerospace and Defence Industrial Park in Sriperumbudur. This park is equipped with essential infrastructure, including roads, stormwater drainage, and electricity, to facilitate aerospace and defence manufacturing activities.

In addition to Sriperumbudur, the state is making significant progress in establishing aerospace and defence parks in Coimbatore. The government is expediting land acquisition and infrastructure development to support the ‘KovaiRising’ initiative, which aims to generate employment and enhance regional infrastructure.

These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to create a robust ecosystem for aerospace and defence manufacturing in Tamil Nadu, leveraging its skilled workforce and strategic location to attract global players and foster innovation in the sector.
