GE Aerospace has been selected to supply advanced engines for the six new Next-Generation Missile Vessels (NGMVs) of the Indian Navy, marking a significant milestone in India’s naval modernization program. The vessels, designed for high-speed operations and equipped with cutting-edge weaponry, will be powered by GE’s proven LM2500 marine gas turbines, known for their reliability, efficiency, and performance in naval applications.
The LM2500 engines, which are widely used by navies around the world, will enable the missile ships to achieve high speeds and maintain operational efficiency during extended missions. These vessels are designed for a variety of roles, including offensive strike operations, escort missions, and coastal defense, requiring engines capable of providing consistent and high power output under demanding conditions.
This agreement aligns with India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, as GE Aerospace is collaborating with Indian partners to manufacture and assemble components locally, boosting domestic capabilities and creating opportunities for Indian companies in the defense supply chain.
